I’m thrilled to be writing about Maiden, North Carolina!

I’m Tamela Hancock Murray and I’m thrilled to be here! I’ve written about North Carolina in the past and am excited about my setting. Many of my family and friends live in and around the Cary and Graham areas so the state holds a special place in my heart.

My family took a trip to Maiden to see the scenery for ourselves. The town is near Hickory, which you may know if you enjoy decorating, is home to a thriving furniture industry. We brought back a few pictures of Maiden. I hope to post them soon. The town is peaceful and idyllic, and reminds me much of the small town where I grew up, Victoria, Virginia. During our trip we visited the Catawba County Museum. There I found two excellent volumes on the county that I don’t believe I could have found anywhere else. I enjoyed making the personal connection with the people there, and of course, touring the museum.

The trip was about 400 miles each way for us. We had beautiful summer weather and a lovely drive through the mountains.

I’m looking forward to reading your book, Tamela! One of my daughters lives in North Carolina, so it’ll be fun to see some of the state’s history in your story.

I didn’t know that our country had so many “quirky” interesting towns. I hadn’t heard about Maiden. Rod and I love North Carolina, from ocean to the mountains. We’ve always said, if we had to leave West Virginia for some reason, we’d move to NC. Best wishes as you write your book.

Though I haven’t yet had a chance to read every Summerside authors’ books, I’ll make the logical leap of faith and say I’m certain they’re all talented authors who are sure to deliver entertaining, inspiring reads. (I’m chompin’ at the bit to get my hands on the first books of every terrific gal in the Summerside Sisterhood!)

So happy to be on this terrific list of authors! Looking forward to Maiden, Tamela!

    Tamela,
I’m dying to know how you got your name. It’s a lovely name for such a beautiful maiden.

  6. Love Find You in Maiden, North Carolina by Tamela Hancock Murray is a heartwarming Christian romance that will capture reader interest from sentence one and hold it to the end.

I was wondering if you knew if you were related to the Murrays of Murray’s Mill?

I just found out about your book. I live in that little Town, Maiden NC, and have all my life. We, Maidonians have an undieing love for our Town. We are known as “The biggest little Football town in the World”.

I also had relatives that farmed tobacco in your little hometown of Victoria VA. I spent my summers there working in tobacco. I don’t get back there anymore since my relatives have passed away, but I keep saying I am taking a trip back there to visit friends, but have never found the time. I’m sure you know some “Jacksons” there. I used to walk to Jesse Vaughns store for an ice cold Pepsi in the glass bottles since I was 10. Next to Maiden NC, Victoria VA is one of my favorite places.

Searched all over for this book. My husband finally went online and ordered it for me for our anniversary and had it sent to the Life Way Christian store in Hickory, NC. We live about 30 miles from Maiden in a town about the same size called Cherryville. Its between Lincolnton and Shelby, which were both mentioned in this book. I just had to have this book knowing I lived this close. And when I read it and found all the facts to be so accurate I was so very pleased. Very well researched and awesome storyline. This book is dear to my heart.
