Love Finds You … In a Video Trailer!

August 31, 2008

A while back, I put together a really rough version of a video trailer with a new program a friend turned me on to. It was ok, but then Andrea had a really professional one done, and I was so impressed with it that I called Misty Taggert (the video trailer guru) and asked her to have a look at the goofy one I made. We worked together to capture the comedic tone of the book, and used some photos of the Snowball area, and I think the collaboration really produced something cool.

Misty uploaded it to Godtube.com, so if you’d like to have a look:

I’d love to hear what you think! And if you’re interested in having one made for you when the time comes, Misty’s email address is VideoTrailers@aol.com. She’s great to work with, and really has the desire to use her talents to create something a writer is happy with.

Newcomers

August 13, 2008

Rachel Meisel here, senior editor for Summerside Press™. I am continually blessed by this job: I am able to work from home, I am paid to read fantastic fiction, and I am constantly making new friends!

You might have noticed several new faces in that right-hand column under “Authors.” We’ve recently signed on four new authors for the LOVE FIND YOU™ titles we’ll be publishing in the spring and summer of 2009! Please join me in welcoming to the Summerside Press™ team:

February 2009
Anita Higman - Love Finds You in Humble, Texas

April 2009
Tamela Hancock MurrayLove Finds You in Maiden, North Carolina
Loree Lough - Love Finds You in Paradise, Pennsylvania

June 2009
Debby Mayne - Love Finds You in Treasure Island, Florida

I am very excited to be working with these four talented women, and their stories are sure to impress and delight you.

In other news, we’ve recently sent Love Finds You in Snowball, Arkansas (Sandra D. Bricker) and Love Finds You in Miracle, Kentucky (Andrea Boeshaar) to the printer. I could not be more thrilled! I absolutely love the way these stories have shaped up, and I know you will love them too. Sandie and Andrea are two very talented writers, and they happen to be good friends with each other. What a great way to kick off the LOVE FINDS YOU™ series! Be sure to look for these books at your local book store in early October, or you can preorder them from Amazon by clicking on the titles above.

And be sure to check out the books we’ve contracted earlier this year, which will be releasing in December and February. They are all available for preorder on Amazon! Releasing in December of 2008 will be Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (by Gwen Ford Faulkenberry) and Love Finds You in Valentine, Nebraska (by Irene Brand); and releasing in February of 2009 will be Love Finds You in Last Chance, California (by Miralee Ferrell).

I am staying very busy reading proposals for upcoming LOVE FIND YOU™ titles. There is such an impressive amount of talent out there, and I can’t wait for our readers to experience it firsthand. I expect to be signing contracts with several more authors in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned to find out more!

Okay, I promise…no more wolf photos…at least not for a while.

I’d like to introduce you to Shawnee, the second most-important furry character in Love Finds You in Paradise, PA.

Shawnee

Are you curious to learn more about this amazing animal? Well, you can either wait until Paradise is released…or visit the Sanctuary’s web site!

Talk to you soon. Meanwhile, I’m looking forward to hearing what y’all think of my fuzzy friends!

‘Til then, take care!

August 3, 2008

Hi again!

As promised, here’s a picture of Casper, a resident of the Wolf Sanctuary (and a minor character in Love Finds You in Paradise, PA). You can read more about him and all of the Wolves of Speedwell Forge by visiting the Sanctuary’s web site (www.wolfsancpa or type Wolf Sanctuary of PA into your search engine box).

Casper

Isn’t he just GORgeous!?

Soon, I’ll post the other four-legged ’star’ of Paradise, PA. Until then, enjoy looking into these gorgeous wolfy eyes!

All my best,
Loree

The Breath of Life

August 3, 2008

God created the heavens and earth, and we’re made in His image, so it is only natural that we too would want to make things of beauty. And one of the many things we humans feel stirred to create are stories—wonderfully entertaining, challenging, funny, and inspiring stories.

Ever since I was a girl I’ve wanted to express myself artistically, but more so in writing than with any other medium. To form characters in my imagination and then read about them on the printed page is like giving them the breath of life. And just as the Almighty loves to commune with his beloved creatures, how many of us would love to have lunch with our favorite characters?

As I’m writing Love Finds You in Humble, Texas, I’ve enjoyed the creation of my heroine, Trudie Abernathy, and I’ve been fascinated to watch her grow as she struggles and thrives and falls in love in this charming Texas town.

Also, characters can show up unexpectedly without the writer’s invitation, such as the amusing and adorable Wiley Flat or Cyrus who suddenly showed up at Trudie’s doorstep with something important to say. So, sometimes my stories have surprises even for me. And I’ve discovered that a small character can play a vital role, or what seems to be a chance encounter can have life-changing consequences. Just like in real life.

I hope someday you get a chance to travel to Humble, Texas. It’s in the southeastern part of Texas very close to Houston. And if you’re having coffee in the little café on Main Street, and you happen to run into Trudie Abernathy, please tell her I said hello.

I’d love to know what fictional character has stayed with you through the years. Who is your most favorite? Mine is Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird.

Until next time, read, write, and enjoy this entertaining, challenging, funny, and inspiring creation called fiction!

Blessings,
Anita Higman
